Columbus Municipal School District provides a full continuum of services to meet the needs of eligible students. Our focus is for students to receive general education instruction with non-disabled peers to the maximum extent appropriate. For more information about our programs, contact your child’s school or the Office of Special Programs.
What services are available?
If your child qualifies for services, a MET ( Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team) will meet to decide what program best fits the individual needs of your child. This team will include:
- school administrator
- Academic Coach
- parent(s) or guardian
- evaluation personnel
- student ( if appropriate)
The team will review evaluation information, discuss eligibility, identify the areas of need for specialized instruction, including related services such as speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, or counseling. If the team determines your child is eligible for special education services, they will work together to develop an Individualized Education Program (IEP).
