FAIRVIEW ELEMENTARY PRESENTS SUCCESS STORY AT MODEL SCHOOLS CONFERENCE
Under the leadership of Principal Monte Ewing, Fairview became a successful school and presented their innovative school wide practices at the Model Schools Conference in Orlando, Florida on June 24-25. The team shared five components that have made a huge difference. Those five components included: Teacher Efficacy, Student Engagement, School-Wide Collaboration, School Culture, and Data Driven Decision Making. The conference, held annually, attracts educators, policy makers, administrators, and experts from across the country to share groundbreaking ideas and advancements in education.
Principal Ewing and educators presented a dynamic and uplifting session explaining the incredible journey of Fairview Elementary School. Their team unveiled the audacious practices that turned the tide for this little school with a big heart in this high-energy session. This transformative and hopeful story showcased how the smallest elementary school in the district dared to believe in creating a school where everyone could be successful. A persistently low-performing school, Fairview, against all odds, marked a historic moment as it was named a successful school by the Mississippi Department of Education for the first time in its history for the 2023-24 school year. Fairview flipped challenges into opportunities, proving that with determination and heart, any school can soar to new heights.
Ewing said, “This is my third time attending this conference, and each time it has been life changing! You get to rub elbows with educators from all over the United States and some from other countries. This year everyone was focused on achieving a positive school culture and how beneficial it is to the learning process. We come to school and work hard every day, but we also have fun!”
The Model Schools Conference offers educators a valuable in-person learning experience, featuring presentations from top-performing schools nationwide and expert keynote speakers. This event equips educators with resources and experiences aimed at fostering transformative change in education.
